Afşin

 Afşin was previously known as "Arebesus", "Arabsus", "Ebsus", "Efsus" and "Yarpuz" before the Turks conquered the region. The name "Afşin" is in honor of Afşin Bey, the Seljuk commander who conquered in the region in 1060. Afşin was incorporated in a county by law on August 2, 1944 and numbered 4642. The earliest known history of Afşin comes from the time of the Hittites (Etiler) and Kommegen, and then, respectively; Asur, Meds, Persians, Macedonians, Cappadocia Kingdom, Romans, Byzantines, Muslim Arabs, Seljuks, Ilhanlı, Dulkadiroğlu and the Ottomans. Turks constitute the general population structure of the local districts of Kınık and Kayı, since the time of Avşar. Afşin is located to the north of Kahramanmaraş, with Sivas to the north, Kayseri to the west, Göksun to the southwest and east.

 Afşin is surrounded by the district of Elbistan. The district lands are generally located in the Eastern Anatolia Region. Terrestrial clime shows transitional characteristics. The summers are hot and dry; the winters are cold and snowy. There are historical monuments and artifacts from the various preceding civilizations in the town of Afşin. Among these are Dedebaba Tomb, Afşin Fortress, Hurman Fortress, Tilafshin Fortress, Pirali Mosque Minaresi and Eshab-ı Kehf Külliyesi.

 Natural beauty; Tanir, Ayrandede, Emirilyas District, Mağara Gözü (Eye Cave), Eshab-ı Kehf Park and Forest. Afşin-Elbistan Thermal Power Plant is also important for tourism.

Eshab-ı Kehf Kervansarayı

 Afşin ilçesindedir. Anadolu’daki tüm Kervansaraylar genelde ticaret yolları üzerinde kurulmuştur. Bu kervansaray ise yollar üzerinde olmayıp Yedi Uyurlar Mağarası’nın yanı başındadır. Eshab-ı Kehf Kervansaray’ı külliyeyi ziyarete gelenleri barındırmak için yapılmıştır. Kervansaray açık avlu çevresinde sıralanmış odalardan oluşmaktadır. Avlunun köşelerindeki eyvanlar çapraz, diğer mekanlar sivri tonoz örtülüdür.
